The Next Book … and a New Year’s Surprise

You knew it was coming sooner or later, and we’ve been dropping hints here and there … but with the New Year upon us, we wanted to give you something more substantial — so here it is:

Our new Go-Giver book
is going to hit the bookstores
on February 18.

For the romantically inclined, that’s four days after Valentine’s Day.

Here is a link to our sneak preview site, which is so secretive at this point that it doesn’t even reveal the book’s title!

What it does give you is a link for preordering on Amazon (at which point you will of course see the title; so much for being secretive!) as well as some of the nice things people are saying about the book.

The new book is not a parable or story — that is, not exactly a sequel to The Go-Giver. (A “real” sequel to the story is also in the works, but that’s going to be a surprise for 2011.)

Instead, this book is more like a “Go-Giver Companion,” a set of short, essay-like chapters about applying the Go-Giver principles to real-world situations — especially in the context of sales and selling — punctuated by several dozen real-life stories of people we know who live these principles.

In other words, a few dozen of you.

So, ready for the surprise? For New Years Eve, we decided to put up a link where you can download the complete Introduction and Chapter 1.

Hope you enjoy it!

When Great Things Happen to Great Organizations

Congratulations to HTG Peers Group for being awarded the Champion for the Channel Insider Bull’s Eye Award for Community of the Year.

You may remember reading about this amazing organization of Go-Givers in a post from last year. They will also be one of our featured real-life stories in our forthcoming book, Go-Givers Sell More.

Founded and led by Iowa farmboy-turned-IT-entrepreneur Arlin Sorensen, this group sets the bar for the true meaning of Go-Giving.

I was privileged to speak at one of their national conventions last year, and Arlin then honored us by being on our CEO panel at last year’s Extreme Business Makeovers event.

Personally, I’ve met very few people with the heart of an Arlin Sorensen. He’s an amazing man and it is indeed a privilege to call him my friend.

John and I are both very proud of Arlin and the entire HTG organization. Thank you for leading the field, my friends!

How To Create Dozens Of Blogs For Your MLM Team Or Niche Domination In Seconds

Setting up and managing blogs can be quite frustrating at times.

I am personally guilty of spending way too much time on technicalities of plugins, themes, layout and widgets that don't contribute to marketing, which should be any top internet and network marketing professionals primary focus.

Furthermore, I've seen it happen time again how it brings an entire MLM Team to standstill. They get stuck into figuring out how to blog and social media technicalities instead of getting content up, taking action and building relationships with new prospects.

Now imagine your duplication if everyone in your MLM team is spending time on the how to's instead of getting into action? That can be as productive as driving with you hand break on!

Be sure to read this post by Diane Hochman for a clear reality check.

That brings us to the first of many classic benefits our PRO Membership offers with our Blog And User Creator tool.

Let's cover 2 scenarios:

Scenario 1 - MLM Team Blogs

You have 5, 10, 20, even a 100 or more team members that need to start writing articles, doing video blogging and developing content. Instead of spending endless hours getting your team setup with their personal blogs, why not create dozens of blog within seconds and take your team straight into action?

They can still use their own domain name for personal branding and customize their MLM blog with their own blog header. Not much different to owning your own personal blog.

If they need a blog header, our graphics designer will design one for free and you only have to pay if you like it and want to keep it.

Scenario 2 - Keyword and Niche Domination

Using web 2.0 properties for link building and piggy backing off their domain strength is a crucial step in offsite SEO.

{If you are not familiar with the term Offsite SEO, it mainly refers to building backlinks from other valuable and related web sites. Onsite SEO is the optimization that you do on your blog or website.}

The perfect way to increase your ranking in the search engines is to setup remote blogs, a.k.a. satellite sites, on web 2.0 sites like Squidoo, Xanga, hosted Wordpress and of course thatMLMbeat! ;)

You then link back with anchor text, like I'm about to do in the next sentence, to the actual post that you want to rank for.

You can read more about this strategy in Front Page On Google In Less Than 18 Hours.

How would you do this on thatMLMbeat?

Well, setup a few remote blogs for keyword targeting and add various 400 - 600 word articles on them!

There is no limit to the amount of blogs you can create, but please use this tool responsibly.

We do not allow cybersquatting (registering domain names for the purpose of holding keywords and not adding any content to the actual blog) and spam MLM blogs get deleted.

No MLM Company names are allowed either.

Other than that... Go Wild!!!

The possibilities of this tool are endless.

If you find any a different use for this tool that you would like to share, please do so in the comments below.

Happy multiple blogging!

Are You Prepared for the Coming Depression?

“In Conspiracy of the Rich, I wrote about the eight new rules of money. People who understand and implement the new rules of money will do well as the two types of depressions grow. Those that are following the old rules of money, “Go to school, get a job, work hard, save money, buy a house, get out of debt, and invest for the long term in mutual funds,” will probably be slaughtered in the coming years.”

Sharing the vision: a powerful new collaboration for positive change in 2010

Lou Abbott

Many of you know of Lou Abbott, founder and author of MLM — The Whole Truth. Lou and I have chatted over the past 3-4 years, with more intensive discussions over the past week. We’re very much on the same page of the same book when it comes to spreading the message of ethical self-regulation in network marketing — educating network marketers (especially the less experienced), exposing abusive, self-defeating behaviour that damages MLM and our individual prospects for success, and offering better, smarter alternatives.

From today, Lou and I are joining forces to share this vision much more widely. Watch for an announcement shortly at http://MLM-theWholeTruth.com (Lou’s excellent site, which every serious network marketer should bookmark and visit regularly — and sign up for regular email and RSS updates on useful industry news. I certainly do.)

While we’ve been acquaintances and colleagues for some time, we’re now friends and collaborators in what is sure to become the strongest combined voice for positive change from within network marketing in 2010.

It’s an exciting development.

How To Protect Your thatMLMbeat Blog With Your Own Domain Name

Using your own domain name on your social network profiles and various web 2.0 properties are more important than one might think.

Let's take the most recent 'Youtube Slap' for an example, how many internet and network marketing professionals lost all their content and friends instantly when Youtube decided to terminate their accounts?

Losing all your content is painstaking enough, but what about all the links that you placed all over the web pointing to that profile? Where does all that traffic go? Definitely not coming back your way!

Now unless your intention was to spam (we normally spot those accounts before or by their first blog post anyway), we are not planning on banning any accounts or terminating any MLM Blogs.

Point still remains, you need to control your own domain names as far as humanly possible to avoid being at the mercy of any social site or to redirect your traffic to different sites when need be.

This is why you will see many marketers promote their Facebook and Twitter profiles with subdomains or their own domain names such as MyNameOnTwitter.com or MyNameOnFacebook.com.

That way if any of the social sites give you the red flag, you can simply direct the traffic back to a new social site of your choice.

That's all good for social profiles, but what about satellite sites? (a.k.a remote blogs on web 2.0 properties)

This is where thatMLMbeat PRO Members take advantage of our domain mapping feature.

If you are blogging on thatMLMbeat and you would like to use your own domain name like yourname.com instead of yourname.thatmlmbeat.com, then this video is for you.

When you use your own domain name, your blog on thatMLMbeat acts as a complete personal blog, but you still benefit from your blog posts being fed to the front page... nice!

In a hurry? Do this:

1. Log in to your thatMLMbeat backoffice

2. Scroll down to the  Tools Menu and click on Domain Mapping (if this is not visible, you will need to upgrade to PRO)

3. Add your domain name

4. Go to where you purchased the domain or your domain host and add a DNS "A" record pointing at the IP address of this server (IP Address provided in the backoffice. Doesn't make sense? Watch the video!)

5. Email me your domain name so that I can 'park' it on our server.

Although we park it on our server, your domain is still YOUR domain name. If you decide to use it for something else later, just contact us and we will 'unpark' it for you.

If you have any questions or get stuck, please ask in the comments section below.

PayPal Extreme mail scam… beware!

mail-botI just received a spam message, allegedly sent by someone in California, offering to send my advertising messages to 44,000,000 verified PayPal account holders.

The whole thing sounds very plausible and attractive, and I’m sure the spammer will make a lot of money from the mindless morons who take up the offer without thinking about it, other than to see dollar signs and overnight success.

WARNING!

This is a SCAM, and falling for it could cost you not only the money you pay to the spammer, but your Internet access, your PayPal account, your email service and your assetsincluding your home, cars and business.

How do I know it’s a scam?

Apart from long experience exposing scams and scammers, there are plenty of tell-tale warning signs and plain, common sense reasons why this is NOT legitimate. Here’s a short list of a few of them…

  • Nobody but PayPal has access to that many of its account holders’ details. And certainly not legally or legitimately. If they do exist, they’ve been stolen. More likely, this is just a professional spammer (criminal!) re-branding his existing database as a list of PayPal account holders on the basis that so many people have PayPal accounts that there’s a fair chance that many of the addresses on his database are actually PayPal addresses. The one thing you CAN be 100% sure of is that PayPal has NOT provided them!
  • Spammers are all thieves and liars. They lie to the recipients of their spam messages, they lie to their customers, and they lie to their prospective victims. They steal email addresses and other elements of identities, they steal bandwidth, they steal access to thousands of computers harnessed into their botnets (via trojans attached to emails, music downloads, games and other freebies — is your computer safe?).
  • Spammers use false addresses to hide their identities. Take a look at this screen capture of the email message I just received… then check out the Google Map street photos of the senders alleged address.

The Bottom Line: Don’t deal with people offering you these kinds of deals. They WILL land you in trouble and cost you plenty.

How long can the Bank of Mum & Dad stay Open

Extract from Successful Investing Issue 4 2009

The Global Financial Crisis (GFC) has put family balance  sheets under intense strain. The Baby Boomers have seen their asset values decline and many are being forced to delay retirement by up to five years.

Generation X is buckling under the pressure of doing the balancing act of managing families, friends, work and finances. For the first time Generation Y’s are facing the fear of losing their jobs, dealing with high credit card debit and looking at the prospect of moving back in with their Baby Boomer parents.

Even though it appears we are over the worst of the economic crisis, investors are still feeling the strain on the family finances. This sentiment has been validated in a recent research report conducted by St George Bank1.  The Bank of Mum & Dad research reveals that Baby Boomers and their Generation Y children are under financial pressure and need help. According to the research results:

  1. Over 70% of Baby Boomers said the GFC has caused the value of their assets to erode
  2. Nearly 75% of Baby Boomers are paying more attention to their personal finances compared to a year ago
  3. For Baby Boomers with Generation Y adult children, nearly half are no longer willing or able to provide the same financial support and feel guilty when their adult children ask for help or support
  4. 80% of parents of adult children wish their children planned for their future better. They want their children to spend less on non-essential items, save more, be more financially independent and not to expect as much financial help
  5. Key issues for Generation Y are that they don’t know how to budget or save. 24% have never had to budget and save and just 36% rated themselves as experienced at budgeting and saving
